About Us

Hello and welcome to Kinder Folk.

Run by us, Mike and Ellie. We live in the beautiful Coromandel with our three gorgeous children, dog, cat, the two lambs, and of course our three free range chooks.

Over the years, we have been inspired by the Waldorf philosophy, starting when our eldest child attended a Waldorf early childhood centre. We fell in love with the simplicity and reverence that we experienced within the centre and this has stuck with us and ultimately changed the course of our parenting journey. 

We are passionate about the importance of uninterrupted, open-ended play for children of all ages and also the value in the connection to nature made through toys that are crafted from natural materials such as wood, wool, and silk. 

Our hope with Kinder Folk is to create a beautiful space where you can find quality and handcrafted items that will stay in the family for many years.
